THERE'S A LOT GOING ON AT SOUTH LIVERPOOL CLC

PARKLANDS RADIO DAYS

Parklands High School have booked in for a couple of radio days in March, where their history lessons are given a new slant through the medium of radio. Groups of pupils become radio presenters/reporters for the day to bring their historical topics to life, and create a radio show with music, discussion and reported events.

BUSINESS ENTERPRISE

On March 9th, a group of pupils from one of our local schools will be descending on the CLC to take part in a business enterprise event coordinated by students at Edge Hill College. This gives youngsters an insight into producing a marketable and saleable object, and hopes to provide a first step for the budding entrepreneurs of the future.

PRIMARY HEADTEACHERS’ BREAKFAST

Primary Headteachers in the area are being invited to come along for a working breakfast on April 14th and see what the CLC has to offer for their pupils. Primary schools are finding that their work can be supported in ever more exciting ways using the facilities at the CLC, by offering pupils a different experience of learning.

THE LEARNING PLATFORM

Plans are under way to take a group of students to London for an exciting day of learning. Using hand-held technologies, the students will be given various digital tasks to complete whilst in the capital, and then will share all their findings and conclusions with other pupils in Liverpool on Liverpool’s Learning Platform.

AIM HIGHER, HOVERCRAFT CHALLENGE

Science was never like this!!! Teams of girls from across Merseyside are challenged to build a working hovercraft which will transport one of them down a course. Designed to inspire girls to take up science and engineering, this brilliant day, organised by Manchester University really does get students working as a team and thinking through a problem. Thrills (and sometimes spills) galore!!

EASTER PROJECT

Shorefields CLC will soon be the focus of Easter activity with local Primary School pupils arriving for a fun session involving ICT Design, and the decoration of a chocolate Easter egg for someone they love. The session also includes an interactive storytelling segment where pupils can become involved with an Easter story.
